Atelier Fragranze Milano forges exclusive partnerships with italian farms for raw materials

Atelier Fragranze Milano, under the leadership of Marco and Luca Maffei, the company’s president and CEO respectively, has taken a significant step towards promoting the essence of Made in Italy in the perfume industry. The company has announced exclusive partnerships with two Italian agricultural firms, both recognized as leaders in their field, for the procurement of essential raw materials. These include bergamot essential oils from Azienda Agricola Patea in Reggio Calabria and orris (Iris pallida) from Iris L’Oro Blu in Florence.

Marco Maffei has expressed that these partnerships are a direct reflection of the company’s longstanding vision and strategic decisions, emphasizing the importance of showcasing the value of Made in Italy to the global perfume market. “This move is a clear statement of our commitment to the core values that Atelier Fragranze Milano stands for”, he stated.

Azienda Agricola Patea, located in Brancaleone, Reggio Calabria, is a second-generation family-run operation that cultivates 15 hectares of land with Reggio Calabria bergamot. The farm produces about 6,000 tonnes of fruit annually, which translates into 30,000 kg of essential oil, including 8,000 kg of organic oil. In recent years, the farm has engaged in various university collaborations to research the properties and benefits of Reggio Calabria bergamot, earning certifications in organic farming and sustainability.

On the other hand, Iris L’Oro Blu in Florence operates on 10 hectares dedicated to the cultivation of orris, a key ingredient in perfumery. Their rotational planting strategy ensures an annual harvest of approximately 1.3 tonnes of rhizomes. These are aged naturally before being processed into concrete or absolute butter of Tuscan orris.

Atelier Fragranze Milano aims to collaborate with its technicians to create certified specialties of Italian raw materials. This initiative allows perfumers and professionals within the company to explore significant creative development, offering customers added value through the certified and traceable origin of ingredients.

These Italian growers have become an integral part of the company’s supply chain, highlighting the Atelier’s intent to interact with major international corporate groups.

Beyond sourcing premium raw materials, Atelier Fragranze Milano’s development plan includes expanding into a larger facility, opening new offices in Paris, and fostering comprehensive collaborations with creative and technical partners. This strategic approach not only reinforces the brand’s commitment to quality and innovation but also sets a new benchmark for the integration of traditional Italian craftsmanship with contemporary perfumery.
